Whale Shark

The Whale Shark season in Isla Mujeres spans from June to September.  During these months, whale sharks migrate in large numbers to feed on the plankton that is plentiful in the warm waters.
Isla Mujeres is at the for front of eco-tourism when it comes to Whale Shark Tours.
These large fish are protected in the waters off of Isla Mujeres and their presence drives tourists from around around the world to admire these majestic beings.
We start the morning early to prepare for our day’s adventure and return mid-day depending upon the distance we need to travel. The whale shark area is 1 to 1 ½ hours away from the Island and approximately 60 square miles, so it may take time to locate them.
Only swimming and snorkeling are allowed, no diving. The permits allow a maximum of 10 persons plus the crew on board. Our experienced captain and  crew have the required whale shark certifications and marine biology courses and are fully bilingual.
We provide a light breakfast, lunch, refreshments and bottled water, all the snorkel gear, life vests and wetsuits. After swimming with the whale sharks we will visit a nice reef for snorkeling.
